A QUICK GUIDE TO CLEAN DIFFERENT TYPES OF JEWELLERY

Every woman likes to wear a piece of clean and proper jewellery on any occasion. Wearing clean and hygienic jewellery enhances the beauty of any outfit. 

Cleaning and washing of jewellery give jewellery a new look. There are different tips and techniques to clean specific jewellery.

1. Gold jewellery

To clean a piece of gold jewellery, mix dish soap in hot water and soak your jewellery in it for some time. Now take out the jewellery and place it on a soft cotton cloth and clean it with the help of a brush or sponge. 

Finally, clean the jewellery with water and damp it dry with the help of another clean cotton cloth. 

2. Silver jewellery

It can be cleaned at home in many ways. The most common way, you mix a few drops of dish soap in warm water. After this, dip a soft cloth in that mixture and then clean the silver jewellery with the help of that cloth. 

Now wash the jewellery with cold water and dry the jewellery with the help of another cloth and let it dry. This will give your silver jewellery a new and shiny look.

If the silver jewellery like silver bangles for women become too dull, then you can mix some amount of water and some part of baking soda in a vessel. 

Now moisten the silver jewellery in it and with the help of a cloth, apply this mixture to the jewellery and rub it. 

If there is a stain on the jewellery,  then it will also get eliminated with this step. Finally, wash and clean the jewellery with the help of water. Apart from this, you can also clean silver jewellery with the help of white toothpaste.

3. Pearl jewellery

Pearl jewellery, whether it is real or artificial, loses its lustre and shine very quickly. So to clean the pearl jewellery, first, you have to place that pearl jewellery on a cloth, then moisten your makeup brush in warm water and pour some amount of shampoo on it. 

Clean your jewellery with the help of this makeup brush. Finally,  clean it with the help of a clean cloth. But always remember that you should not soak the pearl jewellery in water, because it loses the stain of the jewellery.

4. Oxidised Jewellery

Cleanse with Tomatoes and Baking Soda.- You can use tomatoes and baking soda to clean oxidized jewellery. For this, you take tomato ketchup in a bowl and clean it with it. Apart from this, if you want, you can also clean it with the help of baking soda.

You can also clean your oxidized jewellery with the help of vinegar. Just take some amount of vinegar in the bowl containing water. Then soak your oxidized jewellery for about 30 min in this mixture. Finally, wash the jewellery with normal water and dry it with a soft cotton cloth.

5. Diamond jewellery

For cleaning a piece of diamond jewellery, soak that jewellery into any cleaning solution for at least 15-20 min. Then remove that jewellery from the cleaning solution and gently clean with the brush around the diamonds. 

For best results clean your jewellery regularly for 2 weeks to preserve the shine of the diamond. Avoid cleaning the diamond jewellery with baking soda or toothpaste. Clean it with lukewarm water using a mild liquid soap. Because baking soda and toothpaste contain heavy bases which can damage the diamonds.

6. Stone jewellery

To clean stone jewellery wash it with lukewarm water using a mild liquid soap. If you want, you can also use hand soap without harmful chemicals and moisturizers. 

Dip the stone jewellery by mixing equal amounts of water and ammonia for 30 minutes. Then wash it and dry it thoroughly by wiping it with a clean, soft cotton cloth.

Take a  mixture of a few drops of Dawn dish detergent in warm, not hot, water. Let the stone jewellery soaks in this solution for a few minutes, you can soak it longer if it’s very dirty, then gently scrub with a new, small-size, soft toothbrush.

7. Bentex jewellery

For cleaning the bentex jewellery firstly prepare a solution of white vinegar and water and then soak the bentex jewellery in this solution for a few minutes. 

Then take a clean and soft toothbrush, dip it into the above solution and clean all small nooks and corners of the jewellery.

8. Pandora jewellery

To clean pandora jewellery you will need a tablespoon of baking soda. Add baking soda and tablespoon of salt into dishwashing liquid and mix it evenly, then soak the jewellery in this mixture for some time and then wash it with lukewarm water.

9. Tarnished jewellery

For cleaning tarnished jewellery take some part of lemon juice in water and soak the jewellery in this solution for 10-15 min, then wash it with cold water and then dry it with a soft cotton cloth. 

The citric acid present in the lemon will remove all the dirt present in that jewellery and hence makes the jewellery new and beautiful.

You can also use toothpaste to clean this tarnished jewellery. Simply squeeze a small amount of toothpaste over the jewellery and rub it with your finger, once the whole jewellery is coated with a layer of toothpaste then wash it with cold water and dry it with a clean cloth.

10. Costume jewellery

To clean expensive costume jewellery, take a small amount of white vinegar in the soft sponge and rub that sponge on the whole jewellery, this will remove dirt from the jewellery and at the same time remove the unwanted depositions.
